- Chinese calligraphy from the James Hayes collection.
- Summary:
-
"This is the first half of a seven-character couplet in seal script by Zuo Liangshi. Currently, the biography of Zuo Liangshi is unknown. However, the calligraphy style follows the mid to late Qing style that the character is evenly distributed with even strokes, which can be traced back to the tradition of Li Yangbing (李陽冰) of the Tang dynasty. The calligraphy obviously shows how the Qing scholar learn and understand the past calligraphy masters"--Donor's note.
