- Summary:
-
‘To the youth of Zurich’: an annual publication for young people by the Naturforschenden Gesellschaft, or Natural Philosophy Society, issued from 1799. This is one of two issues entirely devoted to an account of New Holland, the first appearing in 1804. The frontispiece, comprising multiple images of Australian fauna, derives largely from Lesueur’s illustrations to Peron and Freycinet’s account of the Baudin voyage, and the vignette is after a view by Westall in Flinders’s Voyage to Terra Australis. The engravings are by Martin Esslinger.
