- 1 poster : colour ; 53 x 71 cm
- Summary:
-
A poster that reproduces a photograph of a replica of James Cook‘s Endeavour sailing across the horizon (in coarsely screened black and white) overprinted with a yellow parody of the Lonely Planet logotype that reads “Country Shoppers” (the logo consists of the text set in Churchward Design 70, a Bauhaus-like geometric sans serif font, surrounded by half circles). Part of a series of three prints (one has the same title, and one of the others is titled Country Shopper) that were conceived as response to a reference to “country shoppers” in an article by David Marr about the death of thirty refugees after their boat was smashed into a cliff on Christmas Island (“Arms are extended but backs are turned,” Sydney Morning Herald, 18 December 2010, news review, page 6, https://www.smh.com.au/national/arms-are-extended-but-backs-are-turned-20101217-190sc.html).
