It brings the listener the strange atmosphere of the Australian Alps, the historical background, the people who live in the Monaro district: farmers, graziers, cattlemen (whose fathers came to this country a century ago to develop it), children who ride seven miles to school. Then there is Bill Naphthali, retired grazier, who has seen come true the plan he visualised many years ago. A special A.B.C. recording unit went with Stephen Kelen to the little township of Jindabyne, on the banks of the Snow River, and also to Adaminaby. Jindabyne will be completely flooded, Adaminaby only half.
