- Summary:
-
"A patch of fire ignited by Violet Lawson a traditional (land) owner in Kakadu and her family. The family used dry palm fronds that she lights as she walks along the fires edge. Violet is constantly studying the landscape she belongs to and burns areas at the right time, so that the fires are not too hot, but still clear the underlying debris and fuel preventing larger wild fire. 'We look at that land and something tells us it's ready to burn.' Close to Cooinda, Kakadu Highway, Kakadu, Northern Territory. Wednesday 15th January, 2020."--Information supplied by photographer.
