Standing behind Russell in the photograph is Loong, an imperial dragon that is believed to be the oldest in the world. Russell is the founder and director of the Golden Dragon Museum in Bendigo, Victoria, a museum dedicated to the history and culture of the Chinese people who immigrated to Australia. Russell was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1993. Russell's father went to the Victorian Goldfields in 1899 and when asked his name, he stated ‘Leuih Jit’ and his name was romanised into Louie Jack. Information supplied by photographer.
