Summary

Hancock speaks about her 1960 placement, while a social work student, with the South Australian Department of Aboriginal Affairs during which she visited most government reserves. After graduation, she worked as an almoner at Adelaide Hospital before being employed as a social worker with the South Australian Department of Family Services during 1967/68. Hancock worked specifically in child welfare, where her duties required her to remove both Indigenous and non-Indigenous children who were assessed as neglected. She describes the process of removal.
