- Notes:
-
- Title on v. 9-12: Bertuch's Bilderbuch fur Kinder
- The platypus classified by Shaw as Platypus anatinus, appeared in his Naturalist's miscellany (1799) with plates by Nodder. Blumenbach in Germany also classified it as Ornithorhynchus paradoxus and a description and plate appeared in his Abbildungen naturhistorischer Gegenstande, v. 5, no. 41 (1800). Bertuch's work also gives Blumenbach's classifed name which was published in 1798. Bertuch's platypus would appear to be the earliest published account.
