Amy Johnson (born 1 July 1903, Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire, Eng.— vanished 5 January 1941, over the Thames estuary), was a pioneering female pilot who came to prominence through her endeavour to set a record for a solo flight from London to Darwin, Australia.
