Established 27 January 2006, replacing the Department of Family and Community Services, and taking over responsibility for indigenous affairs from Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (which then reverted to its former name, Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs). A new office was created within the Dept., Office of Indigenous Policy Coordination. On 3 December 2007, the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs changed its name to the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.Works by these bodies are found under the name used at the time of publication
