On 21 October 1998, the Department of Family and Community Services was formed and replaced the Department of Social Security and took over the functions of the Child Support Agency and Family Relationships from Attorney General's. In 2005 the Department took over responsibility for indigenous affairs from Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (which then reverted to its former name, Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs). The new Department was named Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. Publications by these bodies are entered under the name used at the time of publication
