The Department of the Environment and Heritage, trading as Environment Australia, replaced the Department of the Environment on October 21, 1998. The Department controls agencies such as the Bureau of Meteorology, Antarctic Division, Australian Heritage Commission and Environmental Protection Authority. In late 2003, the Department ceased using the trading name, Environment Australia, and is now known only as the Department of the Environment and Heritage. Works by these bodies are entered under the name used at the time of publication
