Australian Capital Tourism Corporation is a statutory Corporation reporting to the ACT Government and charged with promoting the Australian Capital Territory and the region as one of Australia's top tourist destinations, and with managing many major events, and with providing tourism and travel information and bookings services. It was formerly called Canberra Tourism and Events Corporation. On 1 July 2006, the Dept. of Urban Services, Australian Capital Tourism, Environment ACT, Sport and Recreation ACT, and ACTION Authority merged to form the Dept. of Territory and Municipal Services. Works by these bodies are found under the name used at the time of publication
