The Australian Society of Accountants was formed in 1953 by a merger between the Association of Accountants of Australia, the Commonwealth Institute of Accountants and the Federal Institute of Accountants. Works by these bodies are found under the name used at the time of publication. On 1 July 1990, the Australian Society of Accountants changed its name to the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants
