On Feb. 1, 1992, Telecom Australia merged with Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Australia) to become Australian and Overseas Telecommunications Corporation. Both names, Telecom Australia and Overseas Telecommunications Commission were used as as trading identities within Australia and overseas markets. In April 1993 the Corporation changed its name to Telstra Corporation, which is an overseas trading identity. Telecom Australia is used within Australia.
