The Ballet Guild was established in Melbourne in 1946 and operated under this name until 1959. A new name, Victorian Ballet Guild, was used in its programmes from Sept. 1959 onwards, and it was incorporated under that new name in 1960. In 1963 the performing section of the Victorian Ballet Guild became the Victorian Ballet Company, performing under that name from 18 May 1963 until 10 Sept. 1967, and after that under the name Ballet Victoria. Works by and about this organisation are found under the name used by it at the time
