The Institute of Transport Studies, the Australian Key Centre of Teaching and Research in Transport Management, was established in July 1995 as a joint venture between the University of Sydney and Monash University. ITS grew out of two existing Centres, the Institute of Transport Studies within the Graduate School of Business at the University of Sydney, and the Monash Transport Group within the Department of Civil Engineering at Monash University. The Monash node of the Institute also became known under the name ITS (Monash). From 2006 publications issued by the University of Sydney node of the Institute bear the name Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies
