On Jan. 20, 1971, the Department of Public Health became the Department of Health. On April 30, 1973, the Health Commission of New South Wales was established and absorbed all the executive powers of the Board of Health, the Department of Health and the Hospitals Commission of New South Wales, which were abolished. On Dec. 17, 1982, the name changed again to the Department of Health. Works by these bodies are entered under the name used at the time of publication. From 1990- , NSW Health has been used to include the Department of Health, the Area Health Services, and all other bodies and organisations under the direction and control of the Minister for Health.
