The Department of Environment and Conservation's name was changed to the Dept. of Environment and Heritage late 1989. On 26 February, 1996, the Department's name was changed to Dept. of Environment. In July 1998, it reverted to the name Dept. of Environment and Heritage, until changing its name to the Environmental Protection Agency (gazetted Dec. 1998, launched Mar. 1999).
