The Museum of Ornamental Art was established in 1852. In 1857 the name was changed to the South Kensington Museum and, in 1899, to the Victoria and Albert Museum. In 1912 the collections of scientific apparatus, etc. were separated and became the Science Museum. Works by these bodies are found under the name used at the time of publication
