- Summary:
-
"This book is an important contribution to Australia's social history. It is about the Toc H movement which had its origins in World War 1 in the small Belgian town of Poperinge, just to the west of the city of Ypres. Toc H was the army signaller's code word for Talbot House where the Toc H movement was founded in 1915 by Queensland-born Army Chaplain, the Reverend P. B. 'Tubby' Clayton. The movement came to Australia in 1925 and since then, has made significant contributions to helping people in need and breaking down the barriers that so often keep them apart. It's aims are simple: -- Friendship -- Service -- Fairmindedness -- The Kingdom of God." --Back cover.
