"This journey into my past has brought back many happy memories. These feelings, thoughts and nostalgia from my boyhood years on Kwato Island are captured in this book. I tried to relive those bygone days as a 15-year-old Papuan when I was over 68 years old. Reliving those moments was exciting, vivid and stimulating. Despite this euphoria, some details and specificity are lost. Where such omissions occur, they are unintentional and I very much regret them. The unfortunate part of my writing was to have formed the idea of this book after my own parents and many members of their generation had passed away. However, I am glad to have had the benefit of tapping into the memories of some members of other generations that followed my parents' own generation. I hope that their legacy is sufficiently recorded and captured here for their many loved ones and others."--Background.
