"In February 2021, the department of Education (the department) released the 'Rural and Remote Education Strategy (2021-2024)' ... The department established a regional, rural and remote education policy unit in 2021 to support delivery of the strategy and its vision. The objective of this audit was to assess the effectiveness of the department's activities to ensure that regional, rural and remote students have access to the same quality of early childhood, school education, and skills pathways as their metropolitan peers. In making this assessment, the audit examined whether: the department developed and implemented a strategy that enables regional, rural and remote students to access the same quality of early childhood education, school education, and skills pathways as students in metropolitan New South Wales ; the department has been addressing the complexities and needs of regional, rural and remote early childhood education, school education, and skills pathways." -- Page 1.
