A collection of digitised documents relating to the 24th Prime Minister of Australia, The Honorable Mr P J Keating. This collection includes copies of newspaper articles, transcripts, press releases and speeches curated and created by Paul Keating over a 50 year period from 1969 to 2023. Also included are articles relating to The Gospel According to Paul by Jonathan Biggins. The collection also features a catalogue of the PJ Keating Audio-Visual Archives, providing information on the audio-visual materials which are held by the National Film and Sound Archives. Keating personally selected each of the preserved newspaper articles from city newspaper editions "...to record that which, on relevant days, I thought to be important to the national story". Full pages were scanned to retain the context of the article in relation to other articles and to reflect editorial decisions about the placement of articles on the page. The newspapers were scanned in black and white by Keating’s office. Each folded newspaper was ironed before scanning. The newspaper series comprises 13,833 items. The series of transcripts, press releases and speeches cover Keating’s period as the 14th Prime Minister of Australia from 1991 to 1996 and contains 1,260 items. The audio-visual catalogue series comprises 1 item. A full list of each speech, press release and transcript, and the subject to which they relate, is included as the first item within each file.
