Autograph letter from Mark Twain dated August 28 1895 and written while 'At sea'. The letter is addressed to 'Jack', who Twain describes as a naturalist, and includes a 20 line poem written by Twain about Australia's unique fauna, specifically the platypus and kangaroo.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American author, humourist and lecturer. In 1895, Twain travelled to Australia onboard RMS Warrimoo as part of a world lecture tour.
