- Biography/History:
-
Scientist, zoologist and entomologist. Marina Tyndale-Biscoe, born in Budapest in 1936, migrated to Australia with her family in 1949 following the Nazi invasion, the Second World War and the Communist coup d'état of 1948. Marina Tyndale-Biscoe worked as a zoologist and entomologist at CSIRO, particularly on the bush fly and dung beetle programs, from the late 1960s to the 1990s. These programs were successful in reducing the bush fly load in the southern states of Australia by encouraging the activity of dung beetles to reduce the breeding success of the flies. Tyndale-Biscoe also wrote a book to advise farmers on the best dung beetles for their context.--Information from acquisitions documentation.
