The collection comprises manuscript music scores and parts composed by Kurt Herweg, correspondence between Herweg and Music Print Corportion relating to the purchase and import of the 'Musicwriter', correspondence between Kurt Herweg and the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), Australian Record Libraries, Peter Scriven and Hal Saunders relating to 'Tintookies' and associated contracts for composing and aranging the music, correspondence with music critics, press reviews and newspaper cuttings, four posters and four black and white photographs. Many of the music scores are for The Tintookies, an Australian musical comedy by Peter Scriven with music by Kurt Herweg, and dialogue and lyrics by Hal Saunders.

Composer and Musical Director. Kurt Herweg was born in Germany in 1898. He immigrated to Australia in 1938. He was organist at the Prince Edward Theatre in Castlereagh Steet, Sydney from 1938-1940. In the 1950s he was Musical Director of the Borovansky Ballet Company as well as conducting the Light Concert Orchestra. He also composed music for early Australian films and documentaries including No Strangers Here (1950), Australian Weekend (1960) and Forward Communications (1949).
