- Summary:
-
This oral history project focuses on the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, which reached Australian shores in January of 2020, that had a far-reaching impact on Australian society. From domestic and international border closures, revolutionary shifts in ways of working and dramatic social and cultural changes, the pandemic’s transformative influence will be felt for decades. This oral history project of three hundred interviews will create Australia’s largest oral history project on the pandemic and a unique archive about Australian experiences of COVID-19. Interviewees will include those in leadership roles, medical and scientific authorities, Indigenous Australians and wide-ranging individuals and communities from different generations whose accounts will provide a valuable resource for understanding future pandemics and health crises.
