Inscription: 'Darwin certain to be a better place. Within a month of Cyclone Tracy, which devastated Darwin on Christmas Day, December 25, 1974, long range plans for its future development were being prepared. The Interim Darwin Reconstruction Commission had tentatively accepted a new building code for the city and had adopted a Cities Commission report on the options for Darwin's future growth. With its population reduced from 47,000 to 11,000, Darwin is being subjected to a fundamental appraisal by the Australian Government. Plans for immediate restoration are being pushed ahead in ways that will not prejudice future planning. While final strategy for Darwin's future is yet to be decided, one thing is certain: Darwin will be a better place than it was before.'--Printed on reverse.
Inscription: 'One of Darwin's northern suburbs - the area worst hit by Cyclone Tracy and now proposed by the Cities Commission as an area whose future as a dormitory suburb should be reappraised. Australian Information Service photograph by Barry Le Lievre P75/69 31/1/75/17'--Printed on reverse.
