Billie Barlow (real name Minnie Barlow) was an actress and singer in comic opera and burlesque. She often played roles as the principal boy. She performed with the D'oyly Carte company 1878-1882. W.S. Gilbert suggested she change her name to Billie. She toured America perfoming in operetta and spent several years touring Australia and South Africa appearing in music hall and musical comedies. In Australia she is known to have performed in Dick Whittington and his cat in 1889 and Puss in Boots in 1900.
