The papers consists of correspondence (personal and business), photos of dinners and meetings, notes on housing, coal mining, the 1917 strike, civilian defence, statements of qualifications and experiences, job applications, school and business college certificates, a letter of introduction from Prime Minister R.G. Menzies, letters and signatures on his retirement, booklets on Clutha Development and copies of "Australian housing" 1946, 1947, 1950 and bulletins of the Dept. of Home Security, 1941 to 1942.

A.W. Welch was an administrator in both the Public Service and private industry. He was Commonwealth Director of Housing 1945-1952 and in 1960 became a Director of Clutha Development Pty. Ltd.
