- Inscription handwritten in upper margin: Carte offerte à Monsieur de Freycinet, Capitaine de Vaisseau, Commandant de l'Ordre Royal de la Légion d'Honneur, Chevalier de l'Ordre Royal et Militaire de St. Louis, Commandant et Administrateur pour le Roi à l'Ile Bourbon, par son très houmble et très obéissant serviteur Marçon Garde du Génie (copie de la minute originale dressée par Mr. Flinders, qui lui a été donnée par le consul américan à l'Ile de France)
