The papers relate mainly to either the Queensland Branch of the Amalgamated Postal Workers Union or the the Australian Labor Party. Includes correspondence, newscuttings, leaflets, newsletters, minutes, circulars, reports, conference papers and election material. Principal correspondents include David Hepher, Tex Ashmore, George Slater, Jack Egerton, Jim Keeffe and Tom Burns. Included amongst the papers is a a collection of research notes, photographs, correspondence and newscuttings collected by Waters whilst researching and writing Postal unions and politics: a history of the Amalgamated Postal Workers Union of Australia (UQP, 1978). The collection also includes two boxes of papers relating to Waters' involvement in the international labour movement, including the PTTI (Postal, Telegraph and Telephone International) and the International Labor Organisation.
