The papers consist of photographs and illustrations for a book by Gollan "The tradition of Australian cooking" which was published by the Australian National University in 1978. The book describes food and cooking methods, the kitchens and gadgets and the slowly changing culinary traditions of Australians from early Aborigines and the first days of European settlement to the present. Also included are articles and a a manuscript 'For Simmo' written by Jan Simmonds with Anne Gollan. It is the story of Kevin Simmonds (brother of Jan Simmonds) who spent seven years in New South Wales prisons before taking his own life in Grafton Gaol in 1966.
