1. Diary of John Fisher, 1942-45. The diary describes his and his wife's journey to, and life in Moscow, details some of his official duties and comments on some of his colleagues and superiors. The diary also includes some discussion of the political and diplomatic situation of the Soviet Union at the time. 2. Diary of Elizabeth Fisher, June 1942-May 1943. The diary describes her and her husband's journey to Moscow via Vladivostock, and observes details of daily life in wartime Moscow.

John Fisher was the youngest son of Andrew Fisher, the Australian Labor Prime Minister. In 1942 he was sent to Moscow to work as a broadcaster for the Australian Broadcasting Commission. He later became press attache to the newly-formed Australian Legation in Moscow. His wife, Elizabeth, accompanied him during his time in Moscow.
