- "This is the first map that the Experimental Cartography Unit of the Royal College of Art has produced by automatic cartography. It is part of the contribution from the British National Institute of Oceanography to the Atlas of Geology and Geophysics of the Indian Ocean which summarizes the results of the International Indian Ocean Expedition. The map shows the accuracy and quality of the line work that can be achieved by converting from a map compilation to magnetic tape and back again to a final map. The entire blue printing on the map, including the coast-line, has been prepared in this way. The red, black and yellow plates for the sounding tracks, graticule, names etc. and the land tint have, in this case, been prepared manually."
