Camenzuli talks about his family background, schooling, work experiences in Malta, decision to migrate and reasons for choice of Australia as a destination; cousins who emigrated in 1916 and were turned away on the French mailboat "Gange" but later settled at Ingham, Queensland; disembarkation at Melbourne in 1923 and move to Adelaide; the Depression in Adelaide; move to Sydney in 1934; memories of the voyage on the Ville de Strasbourg in 1923; establishment of market garden and poultry farm in western Sydney in the 1930s and 1940s; work in Melbourne quarry in 1923; return to Malta in 1926 to bring wife and child to Adelaide; emigration procedures in Malta in the 1920s; initial accommodation in Melbourne and Adelaide; Maltese priests in Australia in the 1920s and 30s; Maltese camp established by unemployed Maltese on the banks of the Torrens River in Adelaide during the Depression; contact with Malta; assistance to new arrivals after the Second World War.
