Agius speaks about his family background in Gozo, Malta; his move from the island of Gozo to the main Maltese island (that is, Malta) in 1936; work experiences in Malta and Gozo; migration to Australia with his brother in 1939; work as sugar cane cutter in north Queensland and then at the McKay Harvester factory in Sunshine, Melbourne during 1942-50 and then on the Melbourne waterfront from 1950-76; emigration procedure in Malta in the 1930s; the voyage to Australia on the 'Jervis Bay' in 1939; initial accommodation at Innisfail, Qld.; advice of his father who had migrated to Sydney in 1914 and worked on the Burrinjuck Dam project; the Maltese communities at Innisfail and Melbourne during the 1940s; memories of conditions and people at McKay Harvesting Machine Company factory.
