Biography/History:

"Born in Wellington, N.S.W., in 1875. Worked with several Australian managements including George Rignold, J.C. Williamson and Brough & Bouciault. Travelled with a company to Africa, then to England. His first West End appearance was in 1902. Joined famed Shakespearean F.R. Benson's company as leading man in 1903(?). Had a succession of roles, including tours of America in 1908 and 1910. In between appeared at Stratford-upon-Avon. Moved to New York in 1912 and had a most successful career on Broadway."--Vendor's notes.
