Born in Sydney in 1938, John Dengate worked as a primary school teacher. He is a life member of the Bush Music Club and since the 1960's has established a reputation as a political satirist, folk singer and poet. His work has been published in the journals Stringybark and Greenhide, and New City Songster as well as on records including Rebel Chorus.
