- Title translated into English: White Australia policy.
- Synopsis of content: This work consists of two papers published by the Euro-American Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning the 'White Australia Policy' adopted by the Australian Government of the time. The first paper was submitted by the Japanese Consulate-General in Sydney, Tamaki Tsuruya. The second was written by an official of the Second Office in the Euro-American Bureau. This work outlines the "White Australia Policy" from the perspective of potential Japanese immigrants and workers in Australia. It outlines the reasons given by the Australian Government for the policy, namely its economic, political, racial, religious and moral grounds. Though various arguments against the policy are mentioned, it is acknowledged that most Australians agree with the general tenour of the law. Concerning Japan, it is argued that the rise in international prominence since Japan's defeat of China and Russia in 1895 and 1905 has fostered a new fear and protectionism, even though personal interactions between individuals continue to be warm. The papers conclude that great difficulties-economic and social-could arise from the continuation of the 'White Australia Policy'.
