Collection of lantern slides from the collection of John George Hunter, later Dr. Hunter, chief biologist of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition led by Dr., later Sir Douglas Mawson. The slides were created by Frank Hurley from original photographs by Hurley, L. R. Blake, H. Hamilton, Douglas Mawson and an unknown photographer. Also includes one slide of a photograph of Heard Island taken by Frank Hurley on the later British, Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE) in 1929-1931.

- These slides accompanied a lecture given by John Hunter at the Lyceum Theatre in Sydney in 1925. The original text is in the National Library of Australia Manuscript Collection, MS 2806.
