Hinkley talks about her early childhood and education including dance training, first encounter with Gertrud Bodenwieser, early theatrical experiences, acting classes at the Independent Theatre with Doris Fitton, training as a Physical Education teacher at Sydney Teachers' College. She then discusses her experiences with Bodenwieser classes, technique and choreographic process, especially making the duet "Visions of Painters - Goya" and the trio "The Wheel of Life." Hinkley talks about applying for a Fulbright Scholarship to study modern dance in America and her work, "Unknown Land" which was part of her application, working in America, especially with Louis Horst, Doris Humphrey and Martha Graham and their attitude to the development of the new American dance. She discusses her work in the Merce Cunningham studio, returning to Australia, working with Ballet Australia and Valrene Tweedie and her pieces "Days of Darkness" and "Eloges". Hinkley then talks about leaving the Bodenwieser "stable" and working at Fort St Girls High School as a dance educator, her book "Creativity in Dance", and "Choros" a film made with her students at Fort St. She then talks about moving into tertiary teaching particularly at the Australian Catholic University, working with Kai Tai Chan and the One Extra Company, travelling to Vienna for the Bodenwieser exhibition 1979-80, her attendance at various conferences in Australia and overseas relating to creativity and the child and her books of poetry.
