A small number of letters and telegrams received by Badman from 1943 until 1966, a diary of his trip to Britain and Canada as a member of the Empire delegation in 1943, "travel impressions" written during his visit to Europe to attend the Coronation in 1953, a pocket diary (1974), invitations and programs, autobiographical notes, and writings on wheat, family and official photographs, press cuttings and two silver medals of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia.

A. O. Badman was born in Yacka, S.A. on 18 December 1885. He took over his father's farm in 1903 and experimented with new wheat varieties, introduced several new strains. He was President of the Country Party of S.A. in 1931 and was active in uniting the Liberal Country League. He was Senator (S.A.) from 1931-1937 when he resigned to enter the House of Representatives for Grey. He was defeated in 1943. Badman died in 1977.
