Harold White first came to Canberra in 1926 when the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library was transferred from Melbourne. He delivers a monologue about a few of the public servants and other figures whom he came to know at the Hotel Canberra and elsewhere in his early years in Canberra. They include Sir Robert Garran, Sir George Knowles, William J. Skewes, Dr Walter Duffield, Sir Hubert Murray, Dr Robin Tillyard, Thomas M. Shakespeare, and Sir Warren McDonald.
