- Summary:
-
Describes life pre-contact then the story of a man who found a whitefellas' knife and axe and made himself a spear and shield with it. Had never seen horses or bullocks when they appeared - at first was frightened but then speared and ate them. The whitefellas discovered the disappearance of their horses and cattle and told the police who came on horseback "to arrest those poor ignorant Aboriginal people". They ran away but the policemen grabbed Multa, Wapiti and Yukinya, all the Tjampitjinpa men, and took them to gaol where they learned about flour, tea and sugar, clothes, meat and they worked for the white man. Then the Yulampawurru and Mirrini people joined together and ate the new meat together as countrymen.
