Albert "Sibby" Johnson, Aboriginal Australian person separated child and bushman, speaks about his mother who had been raised at Cootamundra Girls' Home, N.S.W. and died shortly after his birth. He spent his childhood on Condobolin Reserve until the age of 11 when he was sent to a boys' shelter in Sydney and then to Mittagong Boys' Home. Johnson spent his adolescence either in or on the run from government institutions. He describes the living conditions at the shelter, Mittagong Boy's Home, Gosford Farm Home for Boys, Bomaderry Children's Home, Royalston Home near Bomaderry, and Yasmar Juvenile Detention Centre in Sydney. He also describes how he survived on the run from authorities, and talks about his wife and children and about Wiradjuri culture.
