- Summary:
-
This Legislation Bulletin looks at the main objectives of the Child Protection Amendment Bill 2000. These were to provide for child protection orders and proceedings to be transferred between Queensland and the other Australian States and Territories and New Zealand where similar arrangements have been enacted. The Bill also implemented particular recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry into Abuse of Children in Queensland Institutions (the Forde Inquiry) so as to ensure the safety of children placed in residential facilities for the care of children under the custody or guardianship of the Chief Executive of the Department of Families, Youth and Community Care. This Legislation Bulletin was created in March 2000.
