Bradfield, a medical practitioner and son of J.J.C. Bradfield, designer of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, speaks about some of the changes that have taken place in medicine during his seventy years in practice and gives some brief accounts of his father's role in the Sydney Harbour Bridge project. Topics covered include: his early life in Gordon, NSW; home remedies; family background; travelling to school by ferry across the Harbour; father's plans for a bridge; bridge shape; pre-WWI medical studies; SHB float in Sydney street procession; home life; recollection of soldiers leaving for the Boer War; reading lists of Gallipoli dead in the newspaper; experiences on board ship returning repatriated Germans to Europe following the war; influenza epidemic on board; Sydney Boys High School Cadets; AIF depot in Cape Town; medical practice in Newcastle; early film going at Gordon; lead up to Bridge opening; joining of the arch; father's calmness & dedication to the Bridge; father's other projects; recollections of Halleys Comet in 1910.
