- The facsimile ed. reproduces the Book of Kells for the first time in its entirety and in full colour. Colour transparencies were electronically analysed using a laser scanner and the printing process involved the use of between 8 and 10 colours.
- Commentary issued in slipcase. Facsimile bound in white goatskin, issued in black box with silver metal clasps.
- A videocassette describing the significance of the manuscript and showing steps in the production of the facsimile was produced in 1987 entitled A masterpiece re-created.
- Limited ed. of 1480 copies.
